Homework - In the Boston Globe get two articles that interest you and cut them out. Glue or tape them into your notebook, write at least a three paragraph essay about each. The essay must contain why you found the article interesting and a summary of what it was about. A paragraph is at least five sentences long, if you write any less than that you will not receive credit for the paragraph.

Welcome Grade 7 Students

Hello Grade 7 students, I'm sorry I was not able to start my ELA Blog earlier.

Homework due Wednesday -
Read the Boston Globe newspaper, pick two articles and write at least a three paragraph summary of each. Each summary must include why you picked it and what is important about it. Please cut out the article and include it on a separate sheet with your summary.

In addition, you will make an oral presentation on an article before the class, for a separate grade. You will be graded on how you present the material; voice, eye contact, and knowledge of the article.

Continue to work on your autobiography. Autobiography due no later than October 13, 2010. Reminder autobiography is worth 30% of your grade for the term.

Testing - You will have three tests this week. Review and study; Power Plus Lessons 15 and 16, Killing Mr. Griffin vocabulary list # 3, and answers for chapters 6 - 10 for Killing Mr. Griffin. Also, Poetry Outloud is tomorrow for homerooms 206 and 208. Homerooms 210 and 216 will present on Thursday.

Reminder - Your research paper is due o later than June 15. Your grade for this paper will count twice, once for the fifth term and once for the sixth term grade. Reread your paper aloud to catch the obvious mistakes, then have an adult or older person you trust to also read your paper and make suggestions for improvement. Please submit your paper early so I can go over it and give you feedback and you can resubmit your paper before the deadline.

Research Paper

Your paper is now scheduled to be turned in by Sunday February 28 before 11:59 PM. Several students were having a lot of difficulty trying to upload their papers. Now you will have all day Saturday and Sunday to review your paper and make the appropriate changes to get a good grade.

1. Report on a book written by a Black author is due to be submitted to Turnitin.com on Friday February 26 before midnight.
2. Newspaper article summaries (2) are due on Friday, February 26
3. Please review your Idioms paper that was passed out before February vacation, there will be a test on Tuesday.

Review

Please review your Harlem Renaissance paper that you submitted to Turnitin in January. Look at the corrections that I made to your paper and write a short essay explaining what you need to do to improve your grade for the paper that you have to pass in on Friday.

Anyone that did not pass in a paper has to write a three paragraph essay about what they think they have to do pass in a quality paper.

It has come to my attention that several students were not able to access their papers last night or see the corrections that I made. If you still can not see the corrects or open your paper, please write a brief description of what you need to include in your paper to get a better grade.
